Yes, completely. There's no fee to join any NYC People Club group. We never sell your number, never spam the chat, and never run ads inside the groups.

Can I join more than one group?

Yes, join as many as fit. A lot of members are in the Run Club, Digital Nomads, and Rooftop & Nightlife groups all at once - nobody's checking IDs at the door of a WhatsApp chat. Most people settle around 2 to 4 groups.

What's the group size? Won't it be spammy?

We cap every group under 250 people and moderate actively - nobody's slipping crypto links or ads past us for long. It stays a conversation between members, not a broadcast channel.

I'm only in NYC for 5 days. Worth joining?

Five days is plenty. Visiting NYC - Short Stay was built for exactly that window - a welcome dinner your first week, a shared ride from the airport, and a dozen people telling you where to actually eat before you've even unpacked.

I don't have WhatsApp. Another option?

Are these groups safe? Vetted?

Before anyone's added, they send one intro - a photo, first name, where they're from, and the group they want. Harassment or scam reports get someone removed, no second chances. This is a community of New Yorkers and newcomers, never a directory for hire.

A small crew of long-term New Yorkers and frequent visitors runs NYC People Club, all of us convinced nobody should feel alone in this city. It began in 2021 as a single WhatsApp group; today we look after ten of them. Still a passion project, not a business.
